design and purpose of TV idents
The design of idents are dependable on the channel for instance the channel DAVE has a funny twist on child like activities for instance 'Cowboys and Indians' where the ident is of 5-6 people playing cowboys and indians around a English state manner and there was also the DAVE idents twist because rather then the cowboys being on horses they were riding on a zebra and this is designed to make the target audience ,of 16-44 year old men, laugh or giggle at the least. On average a TV channel ident lasts about 30 seconds and these 30 seconds show up between TV channel programs and has one main purpose which is to promote the TV channel shown below on one of the DAVE idents.
It is the same for all the TV idents are similar because they all show us the TV channels name and last roughly the same amount of time. Furthermore they come on at the same time between two TV programs and this is used to fill gaps in the broadcasts of the channel usually overlapped with sound or a voice over for the coming programs over that time of day.
E4 uses a different way to influence TV watchers to watch their shows as seen in these photographs because their idents are very loose and crazy with no clear reason behind it apar from showing the TV channels name because it looks like someone took an ordinary place such as a house or a barn then gave a 5 year old the will to do whatever they wanted with it because idents such as the BBC are very formal and almost normal but E4's attract audiences by being out of the ordinary.
E4 also holds competitions for the public and this interacts with the public making the channel even more successful because it means that the public may decide to watch the TV channel to see what the current TV idents are like. Not all the idents that are created are put up as they leave after being made some must be shrunken down to fit between adverts and other TV channels this means that often we dont always see the entire ident and this could mean that we only see the beginning of idents just the logo of the channel to still make purpose of the ident.

Dave idents production
For this media coursework we had to create a Dave ident for the channel which would be 30 seconds long and stick to the original Dave idents and costume for these we had to wear costumes that suited the idents. Such as the 'wakky' looking ident colours the people wear and so we matched this by making the colours bright and also by one of us wearing golf trousers that were loud with bright colours.
WWW: I think that the ident went well because it seemed to match the idents personality and also we made sure that the timings were correct and no more then 30 seconds for the ident.
WWW: Also we introduced the Channel and the name of the ident like in the originals we looked at in our research.
WWW:We got the filming done to the time frame and also filmed with no assistance,
EBI: When we were filming we were lock out of the school this prevented us from editing in time and also making any corrections that my have been nesercery
EBI: Also when we first went to film the football and cricket bat that was required had not been retrieved and so we had to wait for 5 mins waiting for them although this didnt affect us on the time frame it lacked the coordintion of a professional team
EBI: I think that the colours of the costumes worked a small adjustment was md and so we all wore rain coats of different colours and these however turned out to be an advantage.

Joshua Churchill Push a little button
I am pleased with this work because i had never edited a video to music from a particular film and so it was tricky to take all the shots and put them in a video that ran smooth and calm with the music.
Although it was difficult i learned an awful lot from this work.
Joshua Churchill Autumn
I enjoyed this very much because i learned to use multiple controls at once for instance the extracting a video from youtube and then extracting the music from that youtube video. Also i learned that you can use a computer imovie program to put the film in slow motion to create effect.
Joshua Churchill Animation
I learned a lot from doing this animation because i learned how to use the still cameras to create a moving image easily and had a lot of fun during the process.
I enjoyed it because i never used a camera in this way before.

WWW and EBI of look magizine
Our group
WWW-
- Good speed
- Photos were of a decent quality
- Fitted in with the music
EBI-
-All the photos were the correct way round
-If the photos were able to be seen correctly
It fits the old mood of the original advert becuase the music and speed as well as the variety of photos were like those seen in the original advert.
The other groups
WWW-
- Had a variety of shots
- Various angles of photo shots
- Some photos of the advert were similar to the original adverts
EBI-
- Had a title at end saying 'new look' 'only £1' like ours maybe
- some photos were to long
- some photos the sun is making the image hard to see
It captures the original advert well because they edited to the music like in the original advert. However, there was no magazines at the ending as in the original.

'Look' advert
What I had to do to create this ten second clip/montage was take 50 or more photos that we imported into iphoto then transported to the imovie when we then made the film fit the music which we got from Youtube and extracted the music from the video. Although we managed to put the images in time with the song and the 'new look' at the end we were unable to rotate the images to the correct angle or size so this could be an area of improvment.
The producer of the original montage for Look magazine would have to have got the images from the magazine or take them him/herself this would cost more money then if he/she got the images given to them as they would need the equipment for photos to be taken.

Telling stories
This picture above is a eye line match shot as we are seeing what the lady in the shot is seeing this gives us a little amount of background so we can see where in the room he is compared to the lady from the previous shot. This shot is strange because although we see what she is looking at we don't see the image of him very well as the lighting in the room is quite dim. Also the placement of the man in the doorway or the door itself is placed in the centre of the shot this is also known as the rule of three where the director has put the camera in the position that the person or object they want us to look at is in the centre of the screen if they wanted us to see the door with him to one side then he would be further to the right or left.
This shot is a match action shot because the camera is focused on the cards and not the people although the shot gives a small amount of the people in the shot and what they are doing in this case talking around a table while the cards are being dealt. Although the lighting in each shot is the same this shot makes the table stand out more because of the red layer on it for the cards this therefore highlights he cards before the camera even starts to zoom in at the cards. The camera zooms at the cards as the shot changes this is a cut where there are various ways this was chosen because it highlights the cards.
This shot is a montage shot because the shots are all put together with no use of time or chronlogical order this therefore gives a lot of images in a small amount of time and tells us what is a normal day for the people in the montage shot.

This shot is a shot reverse shot because the people involved are having a conversation this way we see the people that are talking t the particular time.
This shot is the same as the one above and both of these are using the 180 degree rule that if you film a conversation the people involved have a line drawn imaginatively between their heads and the camera can only move on one side of the line otherwise the camera seems to make the characters switch places.

www:The film and the titles are linked together well no jump or cuts
www:The title looks like it was from a real movie
ebi:It didnt have to ask to much from teachers and tried to work out the problem myself.
ebi:the film was less jumpy and the colour of the names were better

Autumn filming
I thnk that the video I made was good because the slow motion with the film works as when the conker hits the floor the music makes a climax this emphises the conkers hitting sound also I feel the camera angles were in a good angle.
